Infection Control in Alternative Dental Settings (13505)

This required course reviews infection control procedures through lecture and clinical activities. Dental hygienists learn the latest protocols for proper asepsis in non-traditional settings and are strongly encouraged to bring a portable dental unit.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements: Students must provide their own PPE. This class requires: A surgical masks, face shields, scrubs, and a lab jacket.

About the instructor:

Myra has been in the dental field for over 20 years, beginning with working at a dental office where she was trained as a dental assistant. As her enthusiasm grew in the dental field, she went on and pursued a degree in dental hygiene. She graduated from NHTI Concord in 2005, earning her RDH. She then completed her certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration and monitoring in 2010 from NHTI Concord. Myra worked in private practice for 15 years, and during that time she volunteered, offering free dental preventive services for school-aged children at the Greater Nashua Dental Connection, a non-profit organization where she also served as a member of the Board of Directors. Myra earned her Certified Public Health Certification in 2019, from NHTI Concord. As her passion for working in the public health sector continued to grow, she took a full-time position at The Greater Nashua Dental Connection as a public health dental hygienist where she currently works.

Myra is presently one of the dental investigators for the State of N.H. She also served as President for the N.H. Dental Hygienists’ Association and Chair of the Dental Hygienists’ Committee under the N.H. Board of Dental Examiners, from 2019- 2022.

In her spare time, Myra enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and helping others. She is a Reiki practitioner and donates her time at Southern NH Medical Center, in Nashua.

Myra is committed to providing care to underprivileged individuals. Her passion and empathy are recognized by many.

Orthodontic Duties for the Dental Assistant (13483)

Hands on!  This course qualifies the orthodontic dental assistant to perform those expanded orthodontic duties designated by the NH Board of Dental Examiners.

Class Date: October 26, 2024 from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm (Room Macrury 123)

CEUs: 8

Prerequisites: RDH OR ADA Graduate Dental Assistant OR proof of completion of POI and ICP courses. Must submit certificates.
