Carpentry/Construction Technology-Part 3 (13695 & 13700)

Construction Technology-Part 3 will ground students in the basic knowledge and principles of carpentry, cold-formed steel framing, drywall, finishing work, insulation, and plumbing. This course provides the basic skills that contractors are looking for as they hire for their construction positions. When complete, students will be able to use cold-formed steel framing, install thermal and moisture protection, install doors and hardware, install and finish drywall, trim out windows, doors and ceilings, install cabinets, learn about plastic and copper pipes and fittings, and plumbing fixtures. Students will also earn industry-recognized credentials in Silica Safety and Protection and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms. To be eligible for the course you must have completed Part 1 and Part 2.

Depending on your goals and options, we offer two sections for this course that run concurrently:

Carpentry Apprenticeship Program Part 3 (CRN 13695) - If you are intersested in enrolling into an apprenticeship with a local construction company then please email apprenticeshipusanh@ccsnh.edu for more details.

Carpentry Advanced Skills Program Part 3 (CRN 13700) - If you are not looking for an apprenticeship or your employer of choice does not offer an apprenticeship program then this open enrollment section is available for those who have completed Part 1 and Part 2.

Class Dates: September 1 - December 17, 2026

Days/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-8pm at the NHTI Campus; Field trips one Saturday per month TBD.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • Know how to do cold-formed steel framing.
  • Install thermal and moisture protection.
  • Hang doors and install hardware.
  • Be able to install drywall.
  • Know how to finish drywall.
  • Be able to trim out windows, doors, and ceilings.
  • Be able to install cabinets.
  • Know how to work with plastic pipe and fittings.
  • Know how to work with copper tube and fittings.
  • Be introduced to plumbing fixtures.
  • Earn IRCs in Silica Safety and Protection and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP)

Personal protective equipment: You will need to have the following for the workshop portion of the course.

  • eye protection
  • work gloves
  • high-top safety shoes
  • hearing protection
  • hard hat

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be officially registered and a seat will NOT be reserved for you until ALL pre-requisites and required documents have been received, reviewed, and approved.

When adding yourself to the 'Wait List' please add your payment method so we may finish enrolling you to the course once it has been determined that you have met all the prerequisites.
