The overarching goal of the Micro-credential: Ethical Leadership in Education, integrating the modules on Ethical Decision-Making and Integrity in Student Supports, is to empower participants with the knowledge and skills essential for ethical leadership. The focus is on navigating ethical challenges, fostering academic success, and promoting student well-being through adherence to professional norms and effective stewardship.

Participants will learn to apply ethical principles in decision-making, cultivate a positive school culture, and actively champion the academic success and well-being of every student.

The Micro-credential: Leadership for Continuous Improvement aims to empower educational leaders to drive excellence through strategic planning, evidence-based practices, and innovation. This micro-credential focuses on equipping leaders with the skills necessary to act as agents of continuous improvement, promoting each student’s academic success and well-being. Grounded in the principles of ethical and professional conduct, this program aligns educational practices with the school's mission, vision, and core values, emphasizing integrity, fairness, and transparency.

Participants will learn to foster a culture of trust, collaboration, perseverance, and learning, ensuring that continuous improvement is at the heart of the school's operations. Monitoring Nitrous Oxide (21204)

This course prepares dental assistants and dental hygienists to monitor nitrous oxide use during dental procedures. Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will meet the qualifications stipulated by the NH Board of Dental Examiners.

This is a hybrid course with self-paced online modules. Once the online portion is completed, the clinical portion would be scheduled with the instructor to join an on campus lab currently in progress with the Dental Hygiene students.

Course Dates: Offered throughout the Spring semester between January 20, 2026 and May 9, 2026 as needed per student.

Online: Self-paced modules to be completed during the semester dates above. (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion.)

Clinical: To be scheduled with the instructor during the semester dates above at the NHTI campus, after completing the online portion.

CEUs: 6

Prerequisites and Required Documents: RDH or ADA Graduate Dental Assistant or Completion of POI and ICP courses.

Temporary Crown & Bridge Fabrication (21270)

This training qualifies the dental assistant, according to the NH Board of Dental Examiners’ regulations. The focus is on techniques and materials used in temporary fabrication, finishing margins, and duplicating tooth anatomy. Participants will create temporary crowns and bridges on typodonts only.

Online: January 24 - February 7, 2026 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion.)

Clinical: February 7, 2026 from 8am - 12pm at the NHTI campus

CEUs: 8

Prerequisites and Required Documents: ADA Graduate Dental Assistant or Completion of POI and ICP courses.

Personal Protective Equipment: Students must provide their own PPE. This class requires 2 surgical masks, safety glasses, face shield, latex free gloves, scrubs, and a lab jacket.

Required Materials:

  • Two models of a tooth before and after crown preparation (before case goes to the lab).
  • Impression trays.
  • Material for 10 impressions & temporaries.

*No impression material will be provided.

Dental Sealants (21169)

Lecture and clinical sessions provide an in-depth study of dental sealants. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the participant will be qualified to legally apply sealants in NH. The student will take the didactic, place sealants on extracted teeth and models and then place sealants under the supervision of their dentist.

Note: This course is not required for Dental Assistant Graduates from ADA Accredited Programs. Course is not appropriate for RDH.

Online:  February 14 - February 28, 2026 (Must be completed prior to attending clinical portion.)

Clinical: Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 8:30am to 5:30pm at the NHTI campus

Prerequisites and Required Documents: ADA Graduate Dental Assistant or Completion of POI and ICP courses.

Evidence-Based Dentistry-PHC (20990)

Course opens February 28, 2026 -  ONLINE - please access and review material prior to LIVE on campus class March 14, 2026 from 8:30am - 3:30PM.

This is a hybrid course.  The course will include lecture and PPT slides, discussion, and demonstrations of techniques to conduct online searches to find the best levels of evidence available to answer clinical questions and discover implementation and other relevant types of evidence to inform public health professionals seeking to design, deliver, and appraise dental public health programs. Included in the course will be opportunities for attendees to conduct searches to answer clinical questions, as well as program component, delivery and appraisal questions. During the course attendees will be required to conduct their own guided online searches and to report back to the group their findings. The instructor will be available throughout these exercises to provide assistance, as needed.

The on campus class will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 8:30 am to 3:30pm in MacRury, Room 140. The course will open on CANVAS on February 28, to allow participants to review posted materials that will be useful before and after the course.

Paraprofessional Portfolio Seminar (22928)

EDU225C: March 23 - May 9, 2026; ONLINE Class; 3 credits

As a pathway to Paraeducator certification, paraeducators may complete a portfolio demonstrating the knowledge and skills competencies in the areas of math, reading, and writing, and the ability to assist in math, reading, and writing instruction. This course guides students in the preparation and completion of the required portfolio evidence through participation in a series of seminars and completing evidence to be presented in a final portfolio.

About the instructor:

Cynthia has been in education since 1998. She has taught in educator preparation at the University of New Hampshire and Saint Anselm College before coming to NHTI. Cynthia is the coordinator of clinical practice for the Education Department at NHTI and Professor of Education. In the past, Cynthia was an elementary and middle school teacher and an assistant middle school principal. She loves all aspects of education, but areas of professional interest include mentoring new teachers, supporting students with disabilities, student assessment, and special education. Cynthia earned her B.S and M.Ed from Notre Dame College and is completing her doctoral dissertation through Northeastern University.
