Expert Dylan WIlliam explains that assessment is the most vital aspect of ‘teaching and learning’ given that it provides us the most essential data on how students have progressed on the aspirational learning goals we set for them. In this course, teachers will learn best practices on how to design assessments that provide all students the opportunity to build a body of evidence of their learning against CTE competencies.  The craft of authoring authentic quality performance assessments is essential to the day-to-day work of a CTE teacher.  Students will construct a usable “scenario” summative assessment integrating project-based learning, theory understanding, real world scenarios, formative foundational assessments, and rubrics (analytical and single point).  Depth of knowledge will be a central emphasis to ensure rigor.   The voice, conversations and work will all center around CTE and “assessment for learning”.
