Dental Assistant Microcredential
with Multiple Instructors
This Microcredential training is designed for dental assistants already working in dental practices with 400 hours of chairside experience but little or no formal training. The Microcredential includes 5 trainings that can be completed in 11 weeks and prepares dental assistant for Radiology Health and Safety exam. Participants will be committed to classes from March 11 through June 19, 2023. Online and hands-on clinical training are featured along with professional skills development plus career pathway and exam preparation training. Trainings include the following courses:
Preliminary Oral Inspection/Introduction to Dental Assisting
An online and hands-on course designed to prepare dental assistants to perform oral inspection on patients and includes taking medical and dental histories, obtaining and reading vital signs, basic oral anatomy and terminology, and dental charting (CEUs: 6 hours)
Online instruction: 3/11-3/25; Clinical Instruction: 3/25. 1-5pm NHTI
Infection Control Practice
With online and hands-on components, course topics include barrier techniques, limiting contaminatioin, hand washing, handling of sharps, sterilization, disinfection, and disposal of waste materials (CEUs: 6 hours)
Online Instruction: 3/11-3/25; Clinical Instruction: 3/25, 8:30am-12:30pm
Techniques in Radiology for the Dental Assistant
Online lectures and demonstration are ccordinated with laboratory practice on manikins and patients to develop mastery of digital dental radiographic techniques, including mounting and evaluating images. Emphasis will be placed on patient and operator protection and equipment function.
Online Instruction: 4/24-6/16; Clinical Instruction: Fridays, 5/5, 5/19, 6/2 and 6/16, 9am-5pm
This course will teach you twelve vital career enhancing skills. You will establish a clear career path and use skills like interpersonal communication and time management to achieve your goals. You will learn how to utilize your creativity and problem-solving skills to work through adversity.
Online Instruction: Self-paced, begins 3/11 and must be completed by 6/16.
Career Pathways and Exam Preparation for Dental Assistants
This course will cover the legal requirements set forth by the NH Board of Dental Examiners (NHBODE), career options and how to become qualified in other areas, and study and exam preparation for the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Exam.
In-person Instruction: 6/19, 8am-12pm
Microcredential Prerequisites and Required Documents: Completed Employment Verificatioin Form confirming a minimum of 400 hours of chair-side experience, proof of liability insurance. You must successfully pass POI and ICP in order to proceed to Techniques in Radiology and you must successfully pass Techniques in Radiology to proceed to the Carer Pathways and Exam Prep course.

Required materials provided by student: Manual blood pressure cuff and stethoscope.
PPE Requirements: Students must provide their own PPE. Required PPE includes surgical masks, safety glasses, scrubs, lab coat, gloves, in addition to required blood pressure cuff and stethoscope.
PLEASE NOTE: You will not be registered and a seat will NOT be reserved for you until ALL paperwork as well as payment is submitted.
Notes: Courses must be completed in above sequence. By registering for the Dental Assistant Microcredential you agree to complete all the training sessions in order to be awarded the Microcredential. Anyone needing to change their registration must do so 5 days prior to the start of the first class in order to receive a refund.
