This course will review Advanced Periodontal Instrumentation techniques for the practicing dental hygienist, utilizing both area specific curets and magnetostrictive inserts, including curved tips. Topics covered in this course will include the following: Review of tooth and root anatomy; instrument design; instrument adaptation and angulation on complex root anatomy, advanced alternative fulcrums, review of problematic areas and periodontal concerns related to tooth anatomy, and review of proper fundamental techniques for effective instrumentation. This course will review content in lecture format with clinical discussion, and practical application on simulated patient manikins.
